Job Introduction

Return to Work Parent Programme

Activities Assistant (20 Hours per Week)

9:30am–2:30pm | Designed Around School Hours

Surbitonian Gardens, Surbiton

Are you a parent ready to return to work, but need a role and hours that fit around school runs and family life?

As an organisation built on strong family values, Anavo Group understands the reality of balancing work and family life. We actively support working parents, giving you the flexibility to grow your career while still being present for your own family.

We recognise that the skills developed through parenthood, patience, empathy, organisation, resilience, adaptability and emotional intelligence, are the very foundations of exceptional care. That’s why we’ve created a flexible Activities Coordinator opportunity specifically designed to support parents returning to work, helping you re-enter employment with confidence while building a rewarding long-term career in care.

You don’t need previous care home experience. What matters most is your creativity, your ability to connect with people, your willingness to learn, and your desire to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

The Opportunity

We are offering:

  • 20 hours per week
  • 9:30am–2:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • School-friendly hours designed around family life
  • A structured but flexible working environment
  • Long-term development and progression opportunities

The Role

As an Activities Assistant, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging daily activities that bring joy and purpose
  • Create meaningful one-to-one and group experiences
  • Encourage creativity, movement and social interaction
  • Support residents to maintain independence and identity
  • Organise themed events, celebrations and community involvement
  • Liaise with families, entertainers and local groups
  • Adapt activities to support residents living with dementia or other needs
  • Keep clear and accurate activity records

This is more than planning a timetable, it’s about creating moments that matter and helping residents live well every day.

What You’ll Receive

As part of our team at Surbitonian Gardens, you’ll benefit from:

  • Excellent hourly rates, above average basic rates
  • Working hours that fit around school life
  • Free on-site parking
  • Free uniform
  • Full, paid training
  • Ongoing career progression, including funded qualifications
  • Blue Light Discount Card (paid for by us)
